A Juicing Adventure for Ashlee

A Juicing Adventure for Ashlee!

Here's the deal-I'm getting old.  Haha!  Just kidding.

I've always been into green smoothies, juicing, cleansing, fruits, vegetables and all that!  I tell people how to eat all the time and tell them to do green smoothies and for the most part, I follow it too.  Although, I feel like its time for a change in my diet because of the way my body is talking to me.

I have always had stomach issues (acid reflux), slow digestion, achy joints and Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome.  I have treated myself for the most part with diet and supplements but it seems between all the toxins we get in our diet and years of abuse (pre-2009) my body is just ready for a recharge.  Lets be serious, it would be sweet to lean up a bit too! :) Skinny jeans??...HELL YA! ;)  I have a really good body image, self-esteem and all that but I really would love to be a smaller person and I think my joints would love that too!

After 13 years of playing traveling basketball, including four years of college basketball, my body is finally catching up with me.  All those years of squat jumps, ladder sprints, olympic style lifting and 3-4 hour practices have done their damage.  My shoulders, back, knees, feet, neck and now hips all remind me of the stress I put on my body, but I can't help but think there is another reason all these pains are being exacerbated.  I know I have some issues with food sensitivities and allergies, but haven't been officially tested.  I do know that dairy, soy , wheat, sugar and flour are some of the most common foods that cause inflammation in the body (which is what causes most pain in the body) even if you are not allergic to them. I am ready to make a change, feel better, be inspired and hopefully inspire someone else!

Heres my goal:  I am going to Juice for 3 weeks!
Not only juice, but blog every night about how my day went, what I ate and what I am THINKING!  (scarey)

This challenge of mine starts tomorrow, Monday January 13th and ends Friday January 31st.  I will juice every meal for the first five days (until the 18th).  This is the pure detox portion.  Then I will add protein to my diet the 18th in the form of protein powder (my organic BioPharma protein that I sell) and possibly eggs.  I will still be juicing everyday for every meal, just adding the protein to the juice now.  I will see how it goes with the protein, but will try to stick with those sources alone.
  1. No Eating Out
  2. No Alcohol
  3. Only liquids consumed will be almond milk, coconut water, water and tea
  4. Only food will be fruits, vegetables, chia seeds, protein powder and eggs
  5. May take supplements (ex: fish oil, vitamin D3, Ginseng)

Okay, so this is the basis of my 3 Week Challenge and trust me- I can use all the support I can get!  I will take before and after pics and post my results.  If anything, I hope this will spark a change in someone else's life :-)  I just got my vitamix in the mail so the research begins!  Check in everyday for updates!  If anyone wants to join me, email me!
