Especially when you are trying to lose weight or tone up, your butt is the last place you want to be! Sometimes it seems so hard to balance your intake of calories with exercise, especially when you need a deficit of 500 calories a day to lose weight. It is not as hard has you think, it just takes a little thinking outside the box and breaking old habits!
Pick a few of these tricks and try them this week:
*If you have an office (sedentary) job, take a break and walk briskly, or better yet find some stairs and walk up and down for 5-10 minutes. Also, try to stand up and do work, rather than sit the whole time.
* If you are watching a television show, do some abdominal exercises or free weight exercises during commercials.
*If you are waiting for someone, walk instead of sit and wait.
*Park further in the parking lot.
*Do a video workout if you cannot make it to the gym.
*Workout in a group or class (you work harder without realizing it and time goes faster).
*Workout with a partner (time goes much faster).
*Do yardwork or housework.
*Play with your kids.
*Definitely take the stairs instead of the elevator!
*Shovel the snow!
*If you are waiting for someone at the gym, do not SIT! Hop on the bike or elliptical!
Some Examples of HOW MANY CALORIES you can burn:
*Housework 30 min=116 calories
*Dance 30 min=116 calories
*Walk Stairs 10 min=103 calories
*Walk Briskly (4.0 mph) 30 min=193 calories
*Yardwork 30 min=154 calories
*Light Weight Training 30 min=116 calories
*Run 10 min (5.0 mph)=103 calories
*Standing office work vs. Sitting office work 30 min=87 calories standing/58 sitting
Take a stand and get off your BUTT!!!
